For our studies, we must write about few themes. These topics are :
- cultural
- socio-cultural interests of young people
- business world
- customs and practices
So this week, we speak about
- Cultural : Food Customs.
Food custom
After four week of life in Denmark, our constat
is that The Danish food is not really varied. For us, specialties are herring and hot dogs. We can buy cheap hot dogs in little shop everywhere! It's fun because its name is "Fransk Hot Dog", it's "French Hot Dog" in English....
There is even when some particulars meals :
The
Smørrebrød: This is the national dish that has the appearance of small
slices of black bread that can be
covered with herring, smoked meat, eel, egg
lump or hard
boiled eggs. These meals are generally prepared at the home or consume on
workplace.
The Wienerbrød:
These are Danish pastries,
sold in every bakery. Made with puff pastry, almond
paste, they are always spicy
with cinnamon, but also with cardamom, pecans
and almonds.
There is almost not white bread
in this country, the bread is always prepared with spicy and differents kind of
cereals. There are a lot of bakerys! Our friend Germain, is happy because the french bread miss him.
We can find fish has all the
displays. Of course, he’s less expensive that in our country. There is lot of
herring and salmon cooked and packed of many ways. The frozen salmon is for
example better than in France.
The food is generally much more
expensive that in France. A complete meal like in France with entry, main course and cheese
costs around 10 euros. Consequently, in school most of
students eat exclusively sandwiches whose size varies according to their wallet.
I don’t know if the
beer can be considered like a part of Danish food but it’s a big part of the
country’s history. Indeed, Jacob Christian Jacobsen, the inventor of beer’s Carlsberg which product most beers that can be found
here is a figure of this country and responsible of the construction of several
historical & touristic monuments.
Glass bottles are recorded (about 0.10 €). It's good to the Environment.
